Trekking in Sultanpinar Plateau

PROGRAM

After leaving Istanbul at 08.00 we deliver your breakfast packages. After a brief briefing on the road, we arrive at Akyazi. Here we have a short shopping break of 10 minutes. 10 minutes after leaving Akyazi, turn off the main road and enter the Sultanpinar road.

There is a beautiful view of the 16 km road leading to the plateau, passing through the villages, don't forget to look to your left.

The walk starts at a height of 1050 meters just above the Yatmezarı neighborhood. The first stage up to the plateau takes about 45 minutes on a dirt road. At the end of the walk in a narrow valley, on the left, under the shade of the creek and high beech and hornbeam trees, we reach the 1200 meters high Sultanpınar Plateau.

The plateau is on the border of Saklarya Bolu province and consists of 3 neighborhoods. Houses are usually covered with wood or sheet metal, so we can say that it has a unique plateau. The establishment of the plateau dates back to the mid-19th century. It was established to meet the need of beech timber of Ottoman navy. Don't worry, the people at that time were thoughtful and didn't plunder the whole forest. The highland is still densely forested. You can see beech, pine and boxwood forests. Plateau region is not the only, around the Muztek, Hacımahmut, Guide and Acelle highlands.

We'il get down to the creek from the central neighborhood and have lunch here. While preparing for a bbq sausage, you can visit the surrounding area or the plateau. After lunch, we start walking for the 2nd stage. The walk will generally continue as a horizontal transition, ie there are no steep slopes or descents. A course that anyone can easily do. Already during the walk there are plenty of photographic scenes to take breaks. The track, which starts towards Sultanpinar Pond on the left of the plateau, continues from there to Hacimahmut Pond. Then we enter the wide valley that extends towards the plateau and exit the 10-minute slope at the end of the valley. This is a hill overlooking the Sultanpınar Plateau after a little rest here and go back to the plateau where our vehicle descends. This trail is 14.5 km in total and the walking time is 3.5 hours.

Note: During the seasons when our vehicle can climb to the plateau or when the road is available, the walk starts from the plateau and is planned to include Hacı Pond. In this case, the walk does not shorten too 12-13 km around a walk is done.

At 17.00 the return journey to Istanbul begins. After drinking our tea in Beldibi Village, we enter Istanbul around 19.30.

Lunch: Sausage barbecue, mushrooms, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant butter, halvah, fruit, cold drinks, wafers
